Act-Belong-Commit PhotoVoice Competition12 Nov 2019
Have you noticed something different around our centre recently? We’ve teamed up with the City of Rockingham to sponsor their Act-Belong-Commit PhotoVoice Competition. 110 talented local budding photographers submitted their best pieces to be judged and awarded in this amazing community competition.
The following categories are now displayed on our community wall located near Coles in the centre:
- 12 years and under
- 13-17 years
- 18-59 years
- Schools Workshops
- Standing Strong Together
- Rockingham Foreshore
The City of Rockingham first became involved in the Act-Belong-Commit campaign in 2008. In this time the campaign has contributed to making a real difference to the quality of life available for people within our City. After the hugely successful inaugural Act-Belong-Commit PhotoVoice Rockingham Competition and Exhibition in 2009, PhotoVoice is now held annually to coincide with Mental Health Week. PhotoVoice encourages people in the City of Rockingham community to explore the ways that they and others act, belong and commit in their everyday lives to keep mentally healthy, through the artistic medium of digital photography. The concept of PhotoVoice involves participants taking photos based on the Act-Belong-Commit theme and including a sentence explaining their photo to give it a ‘voice’.
Rockingham Centre is proud to sponsor such an amazing competition that truly captures the essence of Rockingham Community.
