Rockingham Centre proudly supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, showing our commitment to inclusivity, acceptance, and support for customers living with non-visible disabilities.
What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program?
Around one in five Australians live with a disability, and an estimated 80 percent of disabilities are invisible. Some are not immediately obvious, such as autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety as well as visual or hearing impairments.
The program is a discreet way for those with less visible conditions to indicate that they may need additional support or a little more time by simply wearing a Sunflower pin, wristband, or lanyard.
How does this help me?
Anyone with a hidden disability can wear a Sunflower product. If you would like to find out more about the Program or about how to obtain merchandise products, speak to our friendly customer service team for more details.
We encourage customers who need assistance to look for our centre staff wearing a white Hidden Disabilities supporter Sunflower pin or lanyard.
To find out more about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, visit the official Hidden Disabilities website.
'Quiet Time' shopping hours are in effect in some of our stores, which aims to provide a low-sensory shopping experience. These dedicated shopping periods have been introduced by retailers for shoppers who are or who have a family member on the autism spectrum and over time, have become more popular by those who prefer a quieter and calmer atmosphere when they are browsing and shopping.
When is it?
The following retailers offer additional low-sensory stimulation time periods in their stores.
Coles: Tuesdays 10:30am - 11:30am
Monday – Friday 6.00pm – 7.00pm Reduced sound
Woolworths: Tuesdays 10:30am - 11:30am
Kmart: Wednesdays 3.30pm – 5.30pm
