In 2019, Rockingham Centre will continue to build strong and close relationships with the Rockingham Community.

Event Summary

The City will be hosting a Community Lantern Parade as part of the Rockingham Foreshore Celebration on Saturday 26 October 2019. The lantern parade will take place at Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore from 7.30pm.

​Community members have the opportunity to be part of the celebratory parade by attending one of the City's free Lantern Workshops. Lanterns will be made from recycled materials to signify the importance of recycling in the City and along our beaches.

Workshop dates:

  • ​Saturday 26 October, Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore.

​Registrations for workshops are required, with the exception of the Saturday 26 October, which is a drop in workshop.

Finding information about government-funded aged care services can be complex. Dementia Australia has a new way to identify and access dementia services.

The Dementia Care Navigator is a service that aims to make it simpler for Australians to learn about government-supported aged care services and how to access them.

Services you can access include:

  • Tailored information about dementia and local services
  • Individual and group support sessions
  • Seminars to help you navigate living with dementia at all stages, including connecting you with other service providers

Suitable for: Person living with dementia and family members / primary carers / support person of a person living with dementia and people who may be concerned and want to learn more about dementia.

This nine-day outdoor sculptural exhibition will showcase sculptural artworks from Western Australian artists created from recycled and repurposed materials at the newly revitalised Rockingham Foreshore. The event includes a Schools Exhibition and free public tours by the curator. The information tent will be open from 9am–5pm daily.

The inaugural Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition will also run during the same time as Castaways at the Rockingham Arts Centre, from 9am–5pm daily.

Join the Aqua Jetty team for the first of three free fitness sessions to encourage and support the Rockingham community to Get Active this November. A fitness Bootcamp is type of group exercise class that mixes traditional calisthenic and body weight exercises with interval training and strength training. The typical fitness Bootcamp is done outdoors, but sometimes they are held in a gym or fitness facility.

A City event celebrating your pets and promoting responsible pet ownership. The event will be held at the Rockingham Dog Club, off Crater Place on the Bungaree Oval (a dog exercise area).

There will be stallholders, pet rescue groups, Rangers, reduced price microchipping ($20) and you can register or renew your pet registrations.

Coffee, drinks and a sausage sizzle will be available to purchase.

Please keep your dogs on a leash in the immediate vicinity of the event.

The Think Art exhibition has an emphasis on encouraging conversations about issues of poverty and injustice, both local and global.

The exhibition opening is on Saturday 23 November at 7.30pm, and then the exhibition will be available for viewing from the following Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3.30pm daily.
