RAD Walkers (Rockingham Alzheimer's and Dementia Walking Group) is a regular walking group for people living with dementia, and their carers. RAD Walkers meet 10am–11am on the first and third Friday of each month at the Village Green. Come along and make new friends while keeping active in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The City of Rockingham presents a fantastic opportunity for you to have your artworks professionally critiqued in either a public or private art critique session. Highly qualified Judge of Visual Arts, Gillian Peebles, (accredited with the Royal Academy of Arts in London) will give positive advice and explain a judge's view point on each artwork.

Come along, view and appreciate the positive aspects of yours and others artworks and hear suggestions for possible improvements or aspects of future directions in your artistic career. Maximum of two artworks per person. A public session will be held on Sunday 16 June 2019 from 1.30pm–4pm.

Registration is essential as places are limited. Registration is $5 per person, per session. To register, contact the Rockingham Arts Centre on 9527 0734 between 10am–3pm, Monday to Friday or email customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au.

Event Summary

Numerous changes have and are due to take place within WA work health and safety laws (WHS laws)

Gain an understanding of the health and safety legal requirements applicable to all businesses. Using case study examples, we work through the basics of Workplace Health and Safety and what your legal obligations are.

During the workshop we will be covering:

  • current health and safety legislation and the coming changes
  • meeting your legal obligations
  • the role of Worksafe
  • hazards and risks and the basics of how to assess them
  • implementing health and safety in the workplace.

This workshop is presented by Business Foundations.

​Join in on the 'Big Head Project' these July School holidays at the Rockingham Arts Centre and create your own Big Head to wear to school for Book Week 2019. The 2019 Book Week Theme is "Reading is my Secret Power". The Big Head Workshops are for ages 8 - 16 years, and a parent/guardian is required to stay for children under 12 years. BYO newspapers.

Sandy McKendrick is an incredible artist, performer and puppeteer. She will take participants on a remarkable journey as they create a sea monster which represents the fear of the unknown and the depths of human kindness; inspired by the creatures on the old Dutch maritime maps of the 16th and 17th centuries. This project is part of the Balayi-Open Your Eyes Houtman 400 Festival. Come and learn about your history and create an extraordinary creature. An exhibition by Aboriginal artists from, or now residing in, the south west corner of Western Australia. Curated by Wadandi/Minang/Koreng Bibbulmun artist Lea Taylor and Greg Sikich.

Danjoo – meaning together in Bibbulmun Noongar language, reflects the bringing together of established, mid-career and emerging Aboriginal artists working in diverse art forms, presenting artworks that speak of local Aboriginal culture and contemporary, personal, social and political issues.

The exhibition will be open from Wednesday 10 July to Sunday 28 July 2019, 10am–3pm daily at the Rockingham Arts Centre, 11 Kent Street, Rockingham.
